Discourse
Discourse is one of the most popular open-source forum platforms, widely used by communities, businesses, and developers for its flexibility and modern features. While Easypanel currently supports a range of common web applications (e.g., WordPress, Strapi), adding Discourse as a pre-configured, one-click deployable template would greatly benefit users who wish to set up a community forum without manually configuring the entire stack. Problem: Discourse requires several dependencies, including PostgreSQL, Redis, and email configuration, which can be time-consuming and complex to set up manually. Users who want to deploy a forum platform alongside other services would greatly benefit from an easier deployment process that simplifies the setup and management of Discourse. Currently, setting up Discourse via Easypanel requires users to configure it manually, which detracts from the platform’s promise of simplifying application management. Proposal: Add a Discourse template to Easypanel’s library of one-click deployable applications. This template should come pre-configured with the required services (PostgreSQL, Redis) and allow easy integration with email services for full functionality. 1. Pre-Built Stack: Automatically set up Discourse with PostgreSQL and Redis containers, configured to work out of the box. 2. Email Configuration Support: Simplify the email setup process by guiding users through common email services (e.g., Mailgun, SendGrid) within the template settings. 3. Customization Options: Provide options for users to set their own configurations for advanced use cases, such as custom domain mapping, SSL certificates, and SMTP settings. Benefits: • Time-Saving: A one-click Discourse deployment would save users hours of manual configuration and troubleshooting. • Seamless Integration: With integrated dependencies like PostgreSQL and Redis, users can quickly spin up a fully functional forum with minimal effort. • Broad Community Appeal: Discourse is widely used, and having it as an easy option in Easypanel would attract users looking for a streamlined forum setup. Conclusion: By adding Discourse as a one-click template, Easypanel would further enhance its appeal to developers and community managers looking for a modern, open-source forum solution without the complexity of manual installation and setup. This feature would make Easypanel even more valuable as a comprehensive platform for application management.
